Tree City USA

The Tree City USA program, established in1976, recognizes communities for their dedication to the health and management of their public trees.

More than 3,400 communities have made the commitment to becoming a Tree City USA. They have achieved Tree City USA status by meeting four core standards of sound urban forestry management: maintaining a tree board or department, having a community tree ordinance, spending at least $2 per capita on urban forestry and celebrating Arbor Day.

Fox Point first was awarded Tree City USA status in 1989.  On April 8, 2003, Michael A. West, then Village President, proclaimed that Arbor Day be celebrated annually in Fox Point. His proclamation recognized the valuable contributions of trees to our community’s environmental, economic, and aesthetic well-being.  Arbor Day is celebrated on the last Friday of April with the planting of a tree and a program sponsored jointly by the Village and the Fox Point Federated Garden Club.
